Presidential Greetings to our Sorors and Friends!

On behalf of the Lake Oconee Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, it brings me great joy to welcome you to our website. We are elated that you have taken the time to visit to learn more about our chapter, in the Dynamic Southern Region. Since 1913 our Sorority has been a beacon of light for college educated, predominately African American women across the globe, promoting academic excellence and public service. Following in this tradition, the Lake Oconee Area Alumnae Chapter, chartered in April 2007, lights the way for public service projects in Georgia’s Lake Country, which includes Greene, Morgan and Taliaferro counties.

For our friends and family, we welcome you to visit our site often to keep you informed, in-touch and inspired about our many activities, projects and programs designed around Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development
  • Educational Development
  • International Awareness
  • Physical and Mental Health
  • Political Awareness and Involvement
  • To our visiting sorors, we hope that this site will help you reconnect, reunite and rediscover the magic of our illustrious sisterhood and the vision of our 22 beautiful founders that drives us to augment the work that we do.

It is my hope and desire that you will join in with us at our many events. Our service projects that we are especially proud of as a young chapter are our work with the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and the offering of scholarships to college-bound high school students.

Lake Oconee Area Alumnae Chapter sponsors an exciting fundraising event, annually, the “Las Vegas Nights”. Through this fundraiser, over the past two years, we have awarded over $6,000 in scholarships to deserving students and have supported summer enrichment for participants of the Delta Academy Program. This success would not be possible without your support.

Again, we thank you for your interest and ask for your ongoing support as we strive to be a factor in improving outcomes in our rural community. I look forward to having your participation in our future endeavors. Please join us in making a difference!

    Sincerely,

    Karen B. Robertson, President
